You went to school to be a therapist — not a business owner. I'll teach you how to be both.
Meet Candace
You're a great clinician. You know how to sit with people, hold space, and do the work. But somewhere between getting licensed and actually building a sustainable career, you realized nobody taught you the business part.
How do I get credentialed with insurance panels? How do I set my rates? What do I need to actually do to open a practice? And if I already have one — how do I grow it without losing my mind?
I've been there. I built 413 Theraworks from the ground up — solo practice to group practice, credentialing, hiring, systems, marketing, all of it. I made the expensive mistakes so you don't have to. And now I work 1:1 with therapists who want to build something real, on their own terms, without guessing their way through it.
Who I Work With
You're licensed and ready to launch. You've got the clinical skills but you're staring down a blank slate — no office, no website, no idea where to start. You need someone to walk you through the actual steps, in order, so you can stop Googling at midnight and start building.
You're in solo practice and ready to grow. Things are working, but you're maxed out. You're thinking about hiring, expanding your caseload, bringing on contractors or W2 employees, or adding new services — but you're not sure how to scale without it all falling apart. You need a strategic partner who's done it before.
You're running a group practice and want to do it better. You've built something, but the operational side is messy — hiring, onboarding, retention, systems, financials. You want to run a tighter ship and build a practice that works even when you're not in every room.
What We'll Work On Together
Every consulting engagement is different because every practice is different. That said, here are the areas I work on most frequently:
Starting a Private Practice Entity formation, business planning, choosing an EHR, setting up your office (or going fully telehealth), building your first website, and creating a launch plan that doesn't involve winging it.
Insurance Credentialing I'll teach you how to get credentialed with insurance panels — the process, the paperwork, the follow-up, the timelines, and the common mistakes that delay everything. You'll walk away knowing how to do it yourself, for every panel you want to join.
Setting Rates & Financial Planning How to price your services, understand your cost structure, figure out what you actually need to earn, and build a fee schedule that sustains your practice and your life.
Hiring & Building a Team When to hire, who to hire, W2 vs. 1099, compensation models, onboarding, and how to build a team culture that attracts great clinicians and keeps them. This is one of the areas I'm most passionate about — I've learned a lot about what works and what doesn't.
Systems & Operations Scheduling, billing, intake processes, policies, documentation workflows — the unglamorous stuff that makes or breaks a practice. I'll help you build systems that run smoothly so you can focus on clinical work.
Growing from Solo to Group The leap from solo to group practice is one of the biggest transitions you'll make. I'll help you think through the timing, the structure, the financials, and the leadership mindset shift that comes with going from clinician to business owner.
Marketing & Visibility How to get clients in the door — your website, your referral network, your online presence, and how to talk about what you do in a way that actually connects with people. No sleazy marketing tactics. Just clarity and consistency.
How Consulting Works
1. Book a discovery call. We'll talk about where you are, where you want to go, and what's standing in the way. This call is free — no pitch, no pressure. If we're a good fit, we'll map out a plan. If not, I'll point you in the right direction.
2. We meet 1:1, on your schedule. Consulting happens over video calls, scheduled at a cadence that works for you — weekly, biweekly, or as-needed. Some people want a structured engagement over several months. Others want a few targeted sessions to solve a specific problem. Both are fine.
3. You get real answers, not generic advice. I'm not going to hand you a template and wish you luck. I'll walk you through the exact steps, help you troubleshoot problems in real time, and give you honest feedback on your decisions — even when it's not what you want to hear.
4. You build a practice that works. The goal isn't to make you dependent on a consultant. It's to teach you how to run your business with confidence so you don't need me anymore.
Why Work With Me
I've done it.
I didn't read about building a private practice in a book — I built one. 413 Theraworks started as a solo practice and grew into a multi-state group practice with a full clinical team, an intern program, and a training arm. I know what this takes because I've lived it.
I'm direct.
I won't give you vague encouragement. I'll tell you what's working, what's not, and what you need to do next. You're spending money on consulting — you deserve honesty, not hand-holding.
I understand clinicians.
I'm a licensed therapist, not a generic business coach. I understand the ethical considerations, the emotional weight of this work, and the unique challenges of running a mental health practice. That context matters.
