Private Practice 101
Private Practice 101: Everything the VC Platforms Don't Want You to Know
A free 1-hour training for clinicians who are done being overcontrolled and one policy change away from a pay cut.
The mental health platform model has a problem — and clinicians are paying for it. Rate cuts without notice. Policies that limit how you practice. A growing gap between what you earn and what your work is worth.
Going independent is one answer. And it's more accessible than you've been led to believe.
In this free one-hour training, Candace Morey, LMHC, multi-state licensed clinician, group practice owner, private practice consultant, and workplace trainer walks you through exactly what private practice setup looks like from the ground up.
What's covered:
The real talk on entrepreneurship fears — and how to work through them
Your 101 checklist: NPI, CAQH profile, and credentialing application basics
How to set rates that reflect your clinical value
Marketing yourself: practical, not overwhelming
Budgeting basics, QuickBooks, and when to bring in a CPA for quarterly taxes
EHR options: honest pros and cons
Introduction to doing your own billing
This training is free and open to licensed and pre-licensed clinicians at any stage in Massachusetts.
Want to go deeper?
At the end of the training, Candace is offering a limited number of 1:1 consulting sessions at $100/hour — discounted from her standard rate of $175 — for clinicians ready to work through their specific setup, questions, or next steps. Must attend training for the discounted offer.

When: Friday, June 5th, 2026 from 12pm-1:30pm
Where: Online (Link will be sent after ticket is purchased.)
Presented by: Candace Morey, LMHC, LCMHC
Description:
Divorce is never just a legal process—it’s a layered experience that can unravel a person’s identity, stability, and sense of belonging. In this training, clinicians will gain a comprehensive framework for understanding the psychological dimensions of divorce and how to support clients navigating its many complexities.
Objectives:
1. Differentiate between the emotional, financial, familial, and logistical dimensions of divorce and analyze how each contributes to psychological distress and treatment needs in therapy.
2. Identify and describe the various legal processes of divorce (e.g., litigation, mediation, collaborative divorce, pro se filings), and evaluate how each process influences client stress levels, therapeutic goals, and family dynamics.
3. Develop clinically appropriate interventions to support clients navigating divorce, tailored to the specific type(s) of divorce they are experiencing and the legal context of their case.

What people are saying about this training:
“This presentation did an excellent job addressing a major gap in public understanding of the legal system, particularly the multiple pathways and timelines involved in divorce. I appreciated the emphasis on divorce as a process rather than a single event, which helped capture the emotional, legal, and practical realities people experience over time.”
“I really valued how this presentation broke down the many life domains affected by divorce. In my professional experience, clients often carry confusion and stigma around this topic, and the presenter addressed it in a clear, compassionate, and non-judgmental way that felt both informative and validating.”
“This was a very well-researched and thoughtfully organized presentation. The material felt especially relevant to professional practice, and I was impressed by the range of interventions discussed and how they were connected to real-world applications.”
“The presenter demonstrated strong knowledge of the topic and communicated complex information in an accessible way. The content was insightful and clearly grounded in research and practice.“
“Overall, this was a strong presentation that addressed an important and often misunderstood topic. The information shared was relevant, necessary, and applicable to both personal understanding and professional work.“
“The information presented was clear, understandable, and informative. The structure made it easy to follow, even for individuals who may not be familiar with divorce-related processes.”
